This study was able to evaluate the effects of purified polymannuronate (PM) obtained from marine brown algae on the performance, antioxidant capacity, immune status, and cecal fermentation profile of broiler chickens.
Thanks to numerous experiments on different samples it became obvious that the parameters pertaining to the immune status, the antioxidant capacity, the cecal fermentation profile and the composition of the microflora of broilers fed diets containing polymannuronate were modified compared to broilers fed a diet without them. In the first sample in fact the concentration of lactic acid and acetic acid was significantly increased.
