Algea's Sustainable harvesterSUSTAINABLE HARVESTING

We have carefully designed the blades of the harvesting wheel and we have specially adapted them to work in very shallow water.
The professional reapers cut and harvest the Ascophyllum nodosum sustainably leaving thallus at least 10 cm long anchored to the rock, thus permitting complete regrowth in  four to five years.
Our harvesting method ensures that this marvellous natural resource continues to reproduce and remain available for people, animals and plants for the centuries to come.

UNIQUE METHOD

After the harvest we wait patiently for the cut seaweed to float to the surface.
Our machines cut but do not “vacuum” the seaweed from the seabed. We wait until the freshly cut seaweed reaches the surface of the water before we collect it.
This special method respects the environment and ensures  that only fresh seaweed free of foreign bodies (such as shells, sand and small stones) are used as raw materials for our products.

A CAREFUL PROCESS

Algea takes special care during the stages of the process that involves the harvesting, drying, grinding and packaging to protect the precious active principles of the raw material.
We do not only respect Norwegian laws and regulations but our production is carried out in full respect of community hygiene laws in compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) procedures.
