Algea is one of the world’s largest producers of seaweed products for agriculture, horticulture, animal feed and human consumption. The name Algea is synonymous with Norwegian Ascophyllum nodosum for many people all over the world.
The company started to manufacture seaweed products in 1937. Due to continuous development of specialised methods and equipment for harvesting and processing, the company can offer an unequalled series of high quality seaweed products.
Algea is able to harvest Arctic Ascophyllum nodosum and supply unique seaweed products to industries involved in the following business:
- cosmetics;
- human consumption;
- animal feed;
- agriculture.

VALAGRO S.p.A.: OUR GROUP
Algea is a company of Valagro, an Italian Group, based in Atessa, in the heart of Abruzzo. Algea was acquired by Valagro Spa in 2002 and later it was merged with Nordtang, a Norwegian Company specialized in seaweed harvesting for meals production.
Today Algea can make use of technological and scientific support and competences of Valagro S.p.A.
